Alexander County, in the western part of North Carolina, is a beautiful and vibrant place to live, work and enjoy nature.  The county is made up of approximately 166,000 acres with elevations ranging from 1,000 to about 2,500 feet above sea level.  Farm land covers about two thirds of Alexander County with beautiful rolling hills.  Just a few of the wonderful features of Alexander County are, to the north, the Brushy Mountain Range, to the west the Barrett Mountain Range and, in the south, the Catawba River and Hickory Lake.  All of these natural wonders gives those who visit and live in Alexander County lots of different places to explore and activities to do!

Alexander County’s rich farm land produces wonderful crops of apples, dairy, poultry, beef cattle, grain crops, tobacco and more.  It is ranked second amongst the surrounding four counties in agricultural production even though it is much smaller in size!

The County Seat of the county is Taylorsville which is located right in the middle of the county, among the foothills of the Brushy Mountain Range.  There are many fun events in Alexander County which include Taylorsville May Day Festival, Vashti 4th of July Celebration, Bark in the Park an Alexander County United Way event, Street Dance & Car Show in August, Hiddenite Festival & Celebration of the Arts, Taylorsville Hometown Apple Festival, plus Taylorsville’s Christmas Parade and Tour of  Homes in December, just to name a few.  Then all throughout the year there are drama, concert and craft events at both the Hiddenite Center and Alexander County High School Auditorium.

It is a lovely place to live and grow so consider Taylorsville and Alexander County when you are looking for a place to live!
