Hickory, North Carolina

Hickory NC, located primarily in beautiful Catawba County, is nestled between the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountain foothills and the Catawba River, northwest of Charlotte NC real estate. Although, originally called “Chestnut Oak,” the name was changed to “Hickory Tavern,” after an inn built next a hickory tree by one Henry Robinson. It wasn’t until 1863 that the town of Hickory Tavern permanently changed its name to Hickory. Now home to over 41,000 people, Hickory NC is the core of the Catawba County and its population of about 160,000 residents.
